ABOUT THE POSITION: With over 430 retail stores worldwide, our Store Leadership Teams are essential to our business.

Store operations, strategies, and procedures are guided to create memorable customer experiences while supporting the company’s mission of “Connecting Active People with Their Passions.” As an Assistant Store Manager, you will be a key member of the Store Leadership Team and assist the Store Manager to ensure effective store operations.

This role executes strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability.

It also involves serving as a positive role model and leader to cultivate a collaborative team environment and deliver exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to store staff, including supervisors and associates.
  • Execute and support plans to enhance employee productivity and performance.
  • Assist the Store Manager in interviewing, hiring, training, and coaching staff, as necessary.
  • Provide coaching and direction on a day-to-day basis to ensure staff performance standards are met.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels through effective replenishment, organization, shrink control, and communication.
  • Assist the Store Manager with the development and implementation of action plans to address issues related to store sales, goals, safety, training, and personnel development.

Qualifications

  • No specific education required; High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar position or area of specialization.
  • Experience operating a Point of Sale (POS) system and other in-store computerized systems; telephone skills.
  • Ability to use judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems.
  • Effective communication skills; able to exchange ideas and information with the store leadership team, associates, and customers.

  • Frequently in an active environment that can be physical or strenuous, with items weighing up to 40 lbs. moved or adjusted.
  • May frequently use specialized equipment and may be exposed to dust and noise.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with others and work in a place with flexible retail scheduling, which may change seasonally and by location.
