37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm.
We are looking for an experienced, reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our office in Ringwood (BH24 3FE), supporting the day-to-day running of the accounts team in a busy environment. As an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for purchase ledger activities, including:
- Processing high volumes of supplier invoices
- Matching invoices to delivery notes
- Resolving queries
- Reconciling supplier statements
- Preparing twice-monthly payment runs
You will maintain accurate supplier accounts, assist with month-end processes, and ensure compliance with internal financial controls. You will also support the subcontractor ledger, processing applications for payment and invoices, maintaining subcontractor accounts, allocating costs correctly, and managing CIS compliance including HMRC verification, deductions, and CIS statements. Preparing subcontractor payment runs and resolving account queries will form part of this role. The position includes weekly payroll processing for a small number of employees, pension enrolments when required, and submitting RTI returns to HMRC. Additional responsibilities include maintaining the cashbook, completing weekly and monthly bank reconciliations, and liaising with colleagues at Colten Care Ltd regarding banking and purchase ledger matters.
This role is ideal for someone organised, accurate, and comfortable working across multiple areas of accounts. The role is office-based and cannot be performed from home.
About you
You’ll have experience in a similar accounts role, with an understanding of purchase ledger and subcontractor ledger processes. AAT Level 3 or above and payroll knowledge would be beneficial. This role requires strong organisational and time management skills, the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and accurately handle high volumes of invoices. You will be numerically confident, have excellent Excel and computer skills, and be an effective communicator. You will work well on your own initiative, take a proactive and professional approach, adapt to changing workloads, and handle confidential information with discretion.
