We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to join a key technology programme supporting a critical financial services environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on developer who enjoys working collaboratively within a high‑performing engineering team and contributing to the ongoing development and support of a major enterprise application.
The successful candidate will join a working group responsible for delivering quality software solutions, supporting the RTGS2 application environment, and contributing to continuous improvement across the platform.
- Location & Working Pattern
- Leeds-based candidates: lower end of the rate range
- London-based candidates: higher end of the rate range
- Hybrid working model with approximately 50% onsite attendance required
- Active SC Clearance required
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and support Java-based enterprise applications
- Contribute to the delivery of robust, scalable software solutions
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team
- Support and enhance the RTGS2 application environment
- Participate in Agile delivery practices and continuous improvement initiatives
- Produce high‑quality, maintainable code and support production services
Essential Technical Skills
- Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of proven commercial experience with:
- Java Spring Boot
- Oracle
- PL/SQL
- Kafka
- Hibernate
- Gradle
Strong ownership, organization and self‑motivation, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
- Preferred Skills
- Experience with Karate testing framework
- Open Shift, Jenkins / CI‑CD pipelines
- SAFe Certified
- Banking or financial services experience
- Ideal Candidate

- Effective within a collaborative team environment
- Comfortable learning complex applications and technical domains
- Strong engineering discipline and attention to quality
- Demonstrates ownership from development through to production support
Financial services experience is beneficial, but we are also interested in strong engineers who can demonstrate the required technical capability and the ability to quickly understand complex legacy systems.
