We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to join the CTO Insurance, Pensions & Investments (IP&I) Architecture function.
This role will provide enterprise architecture capability across a complex transformation portfolio, supporting the development, assurance, and governance of end-to-end architectures across multiple business and technology domains.
Working within agreed architectural direction, the Enterprise Architect will shape future‑state architecture, support strategic roadmaps, assess solution feasibility, identify cross‑domain dependencies, and provide architectural leadership across major change initiatives.
The successful candidate will combine strong enterprise architecture expertise with hands‑on technical architecture capability, working closely with engineering, platform, delivery, and business teams to ensure pragmatic and scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain enterprise architecture roadmaps, target‑state architectures, and transition‑state designs.
- Produce architecture artefacts including solution blueprints, architecture decision records (ADRs), capability maps, and technology roadmaps.
- Support architecture governance processes and provide design assurance across programmes and portfolios.
- Work closely with engineering, platform, and delivery teams to ensure architectural coherence and alignment with enterprise standards.
- Identify architectural risks, dependencies, and opportunities across multiple business domains.
- Support feasibility assessments and technology evaluations for new initiatives.
- Contribute to the evolution of architecture standards, principles, patterns, and guardrails.
- Drive adoption of modern architecture practices including Architecture as Code, composability, and reusable architecture components.
- Provide architectural leadership across strategic transformation initiatives and emerging technology programmes.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to shape technology strategy and delivery outcomes.
- Support tooling strategies, data architecture patterns, and enterprise integration approaches.
- Required Experience
- Proven experience operating as an Enterprise Architect within large‑scale financial services organisations.
- Strong background across multiple architecture disciplines including:
- Experience developing target‑state and north‑star architectures.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior business and technology leaders.
- Experience working across complex multi‑domain environments.
- Strong understanding of architecture governance and design assurance processes.
- Ability to balance strategic architectural thinking with pragmatic delivery requirements.
