Why we need this role
Group tax is responsible for the oversight of all direct and indirect taxes across the COLT Group. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Group Finance, this role is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the Group’s tax affairs, involving a mixture of advisory, compliance and reporting activities. In addition, the role will have oversight of strategic projects within the Group, including Group restructuring, M&A activities and integration projects. The successful candidate will lead an international team across the UK, Europe, India and Asia.
What you will do
- Ensure understanding and compliance with taxes in all global jurisdictions where COLT operates.
- Work closely with the shareholder on tax and project planning across the wider group.
- Provide guidance to finance colleagues on tax treatments and implications of both customer and supplier contracts.
- Lead and manage integration activities, M&A transactions, Group restructuring and recapitalisations.
- Procure external tax advisors where appropriate to assist with compliance activities.
- Work with auditors to ensure timely year-end tax reporting for both group and local statutory accounts.
- Ensure robust, documented controls are in place on all tax and finance processes, and that touchpoints between teams are efficient.
- Develop and strengthen the group’s tax risk framework, policies and processes.
- Prioritise team resources in order to deliver value-add outputs in a timely and efficient manner.
What we're looking for
- Manage tax specialists and analysts, supporting on activities such as tax returns and providing development support.
- Oversee the preparation and timely filing of tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws, regulations and requirements, keeping up-to-date with changes that might impact policies.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities based on tax regulations and laws.
- Review and sign off tax returns, ensuring they are accurately completed.
- Implement tax strategies to maximise efficiencies and minimise liabilities.
- Provide guidance to colleagues on tax issues and strategies.
- Manage internal and external audits of the tax area.
