Why we need this role

We are seeking an experienced technical leader to oversee Enterprise Infrastructure Services, acting as both a manager and a hands-on contributor. This role is responsible for managing Windows Server, VDI, Citrix, Microsoft 365, and cloud environments (Azure and GCP). The role requires a strategic thinker who can also contribute technically as a player-manager, overseeing and delivering critical infrastructure services while shaping long-term strategy and roadmaps. You will lead a team of approximately ~10 engineers across regions, own managed service outsource agreements, and drive both financial performance and service outcomes. In addition to leadership responsibilities, you will act as a technical SME, providing hands-on support for complex implementations and escalations. While not directly responsible for virtualization, storage, and networking, the role requires a strong working knowledge of these areas to ensure seamless integration. The successful candidate will take ownership of technical solutions and assume responsibility for delivering secure, resilient, and cost-optimized outcomes, leveraging automation and standardization across all enterprise infrastructure services.

What you will do

  • Leadership & Management
    • Lead and mentor a distributed team of engineers located in India and Europe.
    • Manage workload distribution, performance reviews, and professional development.
    • Foster a collaborative, high-performing, and security-focused team culture.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Act as SME for Windows Server, Citrix, VDI, Microsoft 365, and cloud platforms (Azure & GCP).
    • Provide hands-on support for complex incidents, problem resolution, and root cause analysis.
    • Drive automation and standardization initiatives to reduce operational costs and improve efficiency.
    • Champion Infrastructure-as-Code and automated provisioning for repeatable, secure deployments.
  • Infrastructure Operations
    • Oversee day-to-day operations of Windows servers, Citrix environments, VDI platforms, and Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint).
    • Ensure robust governance and security posture for Azure and GCP environments.
    • Collaborate with teams responsible for virtualization (VMware), storage, and networking to ensure seamless integration and performance.
    • Maintain compliance with security and regulatory standards.
  • Project Delivery & Vendor Relationships
    • Lead infrastructure projects from design through implementation.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient solutions.
    • Own and manage the relationship with Microsoft, ensuring value realisation, roadmap influence, and full leverage of entitlements.
  • On-call
    • Participate in the Infrastructure Operations on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support for priority incidents.

What we're looking for

  • Required Technical Skills
    • Windows & VDI
      • Advanced administration and troubleshooting of Windows Server (2016/2019/2022).
      • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and PKI.
      • Strong knowledge of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops architecture and VDI solutions.
    • Microsoft 365
      • Deep understanding of M365 services, security, and compliance features.
      • Experience with identity management (Azure AD), conditional access, and MFA.
    • Cloud Platforms
      • Hands-on experience with Azure and GCP architecture, governance, and cost optimization.
      • Familiarity with automation tools (PowerShell, Terraform) and DevOps principles.
    • Virtualization, Storage & Networking (Working Knowledge)
      • Understanding of VMware vSphere/ESXi architecture and clustering concepts.
      • Familiarity with enterprise storage technologies (e.g., Pure Storage, HPE) and SAN/NAS fundamentals.
      • Solid grasp of networking principles (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing) and security best practices.
    • Automation & Cost Optimization
      • Proven experience in automating infrastructure operations (e.g., patching, provisioning, monitoring).
      • Ability to design and implement standardized processes to reduce complexity and cost.
    • Linux (Desirable)
      • Basic to intermediate experience with Linux systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, SUSE).
      • Some familiarity with Linux administration and troubleshooting.
  • Soft Skills & Behavioural Competencies
    • Ownership & Accountability: Takes responsibility for delivering outcomes and driving technical excellence.
    • Leadership & Influence: Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide team members toward achieving goals.
    • Communication: Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
