Colt Data Centre Services is seeking a Director, Strategic Business Development to originate new revenue opportunities through emerging market verticals and alternative routes to market. This role is designed to expand Colt DCS’ commercial reach beyond traditional hyperscale channels by developing strategic relationships, identifying new demand sources, and structuring early-stage opportunities. The position plays a critical role in shaping the company’s next phase of growth, particularly in areas such as AI/inference platforms, neo-cloud providers, sovereign infrastructure, and global channel partnerships. This is a non-quota carrying role focused on origination and strategic development. The successful candidate will work closely with the global sales organization, transitioning qualified opportunities to sales leaders for execution and contract close while remaining engaged throughout the lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Origination & Market Development
- Identify and develop new revenue opportunities in emerging verticals including AI/inference platforms, neo-cloud providers, and sovereign infrastructure initiatives.
- Establish and cultivate strategic relationships with key channel partners, including global real estate and advisory firms such as CBRE and JLL.
- Develop new routes to market that complement and expand beyond traditional hyperscale sales channels.
- Partnership Development
- Structure and formalize strategic partnerships that generate sustained deal flow.
- Act as the primary interface for non-traditional demand sources and ecosystem partners.
- Identify partnership models that align with Colt DCS’ development capabilities and geographic footprint.
- Opportunity Structuring & Handoff
- Qualify opportunities based on technical feasibility, commercial viability, and alignment with Colt DCS strategy.
- Lead early-stage commercial structuring, including initial solution positioning and engagement strategy.
- Transition qualified opportunities to the hyperscale sales team for execution, while maintaining involvement through the deal lifecycle.
- Internal Alignment
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Product, and Development teams to ensure opportunities are aligned with available and planned capacity.
- Provide market insight to inform product strategy, design decisions, and future development priorities.
- Act as a bridge between external market signals and internal execution capabilities.
Success Metrics
- Origination of qualified pipeline (including MW contribution).
- Number and quality of strategic partnerships established.
- Opportunities successfully transitioned to sales and progressed through the pipeline.
- Contribution to diversification of Colt DCS’ customer base and routes to market.
This role is not accountable for closing revenue but is critical to enabling it.
