Deputy Room Leader – Baby Room
At Colourbox Montessori School, we know that the very beginning matters most. Our Baby Room is a place of calm, connection, and care, where every interaction shapes a child’s sense of trust, security, and belonging. We are looking for a Level 3 Qualified Deputy Room Leader to support the leadership of our Baby Room at Newmarket. Someone who is not only nurturing and attentive, but confident, organised, and ready to lead by example.
The Role
- Support the Room Leader in the day-to-day running of the Baby Room
- Take shared responsibility for planning, routines, and environment set-up
- Lead by example in delivering responsive, attentive care to babies
- Build strong, trusting relationships with families, offering reassurance and communication
- Guide and support team members to maintain consistent, high-quality practice
- Step confidently into leadership when the Room Leader is absent
This is a hands-on leadership role where your presence, tone, and attention to detail truly matter.

Who We’re Looking For
- A full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years
- Experience working with babies (0–2 years)
- A strong understanding of attachment, routines, and responsive care
- Confidence in supporting others and stepping into a leadership role
- A good knowledge of Safeguarding and EYFS
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS
