- Coordinate workplace health initiatives consistent with OSHA guidelines, including illness prevention, hygiene programs, and pandemic response planning.
- Support compliance with EPA regulations regarding hazardous waste, stormwater, and air emissions.
- Assist with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 program support, including audits, document control, corrective actions, and system initiatives.
- Performs general administrative, record-keeping, and reporting functions in support of departmental programs.
- Provides support for safety events, drills, and recognition programs.
- Keeping up to date with new legislation and health and safety standards

- Bachelor's degree in safety engineering, industrial hygiene or environmental science or comparable field of study; or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years industrial operations experience / Maritime trade experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Maritime rules and regulations: OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, EPA and State and Local regulations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Company Safety and Environmental Policies Federal safety regulations and job safety analysis required.
- Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license with a record that allows the operation of company vehicles.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must have knowledge of:
- Applicable Federal, State, and Local, Environmental/Health/Safety Regulations (1915, 1910, EPA).
- Safe operational procedures of tools and machinery associated with the work performed.
- Techniques used to recognize Health/Safety Hazards and Environmental risks.
- Working with and management of hazardous materials and waste.
- Presentation techniques for Health/Safety Training.
- Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present complex topics in a understandable manner.
- Ability to work independently to complete responsibilities
- Knowledge of NAVSEA/MSC/USCG Standard Items and GTR’s.
- Experience with behavior-based safety processes.
- Minimal Travel; 10% or less.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, reach, push, pull, stoop, crawl, kneel, balance, lift, and carry tools or equipment as needed.
- Work may involve extended periods in both sedentary (office) and physically active (industrial) environments, including standing or walking up to 30% of the time.
- Must be able to tolerate noise, heat, dust, and other environmental conditions typical of a shipyard or industrial setting.
- Requires specific vision capabilities such as close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequent use of a computer, and regular movement throughout shipyard areas and aboard vessels.
- Must be able to safely navigate stairs, ladders, and tight spaces as part of regular job duties.
