Role Overview
As Product Data Assistant, you’ll create and maintain the product data that Sanderson Design Group’s Merchandising, Purchasing and Digital teams all rely on – covering every brand and product group, from fabric and wallpaper to paint and trimmings, across all our markets.
You’ll be the person who makes sure new collections are set up accurately and on time, pricing and classification data is right first time, and product imagery is complete and published where it needs to be. It’s a detail-focused, foundational role in a team that’s just being established, with plenty of opportunity to shape how things are done as the function grows.
About Us
Sanderson Design Group plc is a luxury interior design house, home to six iconic brands with over 165 years of history: Sanderson, Morris & Co., Harlequin, Zoffany, Clarke & Clarke, and Scion. Our portfolio spans fabric, wallpaper, and paint, with manufacturing capabilities through Anstey and Standfast & Barracks. Our purpose is to ‘bring the beautiful into people’s homes and lives’ and we are the proud owner of one of Europe’s largest design archives, with over 75,000 historical documents and artworks. We also have a growing international licensing programme which supports our strategic global expansion.
Responsibilities
Product & Master Data
- Create and maintain all product records in Mertex and the PIM – product and SKU setup, hierarchy, attributes, descriptions, composition, dimensions and status.
- Maintain the product classification data that underpins reporting – pattern book codes, discount codes, seasonality and product group – correcting errors at source rather than downstream.
- Complete routine system housekeeping, including discontinuations, status changes and end-of-life tidy-up.
Collection Launches & Pricing
- Support new collection setup from design hand-over through to launch, working to the critical path and making sure data is complete and accurate ahead of every launch gate.
- Support pricing maintenance – cost and selling price uploads across all markets, the annual price review, and seasonal recode and markdown uploads – checking files before and after upload.
- Administer the ‘specials’ process, making sure requests are logged, set up correctly and follow the standard route.
Data Quality, Imagery & Reporting
- Manage product imagery and assets: check coverage against live product, chase missing images, and make sure files are correctly named and published to the CDN and downstream channels.
- Run routine data quality checks and audits – missing attributes, duplicates, incomplete SKUs, products without images or prices – and work exceptions through to resolution.
- Produce routine product data extracts and reports for the Merchandising, Sales and Supply Chain teams.
- Spot repetitive manual tasks and work with the Product Setup and Maintenance Manager to simplify or automate them.
Support & Collaboration
- Support the e-commerce and Digital teams with product content and attributes for online launches on our own websites.
- Support the USA office and other markets with product data queries and set-up requests.
- Take on ad hoc projects for the Product Setup and Maintenance Manager, deputise and take on other reasonable duties as they arise, and uphold the Group’s health and safety standards, leading by example.
Skills & Experience
- Experience working with product, data or administrative processes in a product-led business; ERP or PIM system experience is an advantage, but training will be given.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy when working with large volumes of data.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel (lookups, filtering, basic formulas), and a willingness to build on this.
- Well organised, able to prioritise and work to deadlines within a busy launch calendar.
- Clear written and spoken communication, and the confidence to chase information from across the business.
- A methodical, process-driven approach, with the curiosity to ask why data looks wrong rather than simply re-entering it.
- A genuine interest in the product and the brands, and a willingness to learn the trade.
Qualifications
- Educated to A-level standard or equivalent – a degree is not required.
- A relevant data, business administration or IT qualification is an advantage, but not essential.
Values & Behaviours
-
Intrepid
- Adopt and maintain a growth mindset
-
Imaginative
- Be resourceful, be curious, share knowledge and work inclusively with others to drive creativity and innovation
-
Respectful
- Be mindful of how actions impact those around you & take responsibility for fostering positive communication and collaboration
