Learning Support Assistant – SEND (ASC / SEMH / Complex Needs)

Are you a caring, resilient and dedicated Learning Support Assistant looking for a rewarding role within specialist education settings? We are currently working with a number of SEND schools across Wolverhampton who are seeking full-time Learning Support Assistants to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and a range of additional learning difficulties. These roles offer the opportunity to work in highly supportive specialist environments where no two days are the same, supporting children and young people to engage in learning, build confidence and develop key life skills.
The Role
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis across SEND schools in Wolverhampton.
- Working with students with ASC, SEMH, ADHD, speech and language needs and other complex learning needs.
- Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour management and positive engagement in learning.
- Assisting with tailored learning activities inside and outside the classroom.
- Promoting independence, confidence and positive relationships.
- Supporting pupils during classroom learning, interventions and outdoor activities.
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to meet individual needs.
Requirements
- Experience working within SEN, education, care, support work or youth settings is desirable.
- Experience supporting ASC, SEMH or behavioural needs is highly advantageous.
- A patient, calm and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow individual support plans.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
- Available full-time and able to start as soon as possible.
