We are a specialist education recruitment agency currently working in close partnership with several SEN schools in the Kings Heath area. We are seeking a Qualified Music Teacher to take on a long-term, part-time position supporting pupils with a wide range of special educational needs.

This role offers a unique and rewarding opportunity to deliver Music in a specialist SEN setting, where creativity, structure, and adaptability play a key role in supporting pupils’ academic, emotional, and social development.

About the SEN School:

The schools support pupils with a variety of additional needs, which include Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and learning difficulties. Class sizes are small, with high levels of support from experienced teaching assistants and specialist staff.

Music plays an important role within the curriculum, supporting communication, emotional regulation, confidence-building, and engagement. The successful candidate will be encouraged to use practical, creative, and sensory-based approaches to make Music accessible and meaningful for all learners.

The Role:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Music lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit a range of SEN abilities and learning styles
  • Use Music to support pupils’ emotional expression, sensory needs, and social interaction
  • Work collaboratively with SEN teachers, support staff, and therapists
  • Create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Work Monday to Wednesday as part of a long-term placement

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Demonstrates strong subject knowledge in Music
  • Has experience working with pupils with SEN, or a strong interest in SEN education
  • Is patient, flexible, and able to adapt quickly to individual pupil needs
  • Has a calm, nurturing approach and a commitment to inclusive education
