We are seeking an experienced and motivated IT Manager to lead the operational delivery of IT services across the college, as part of our wider Multi‑Academy Trust (MAT), as we work towards a more centralised IT service.

You will lead a skilled, customer‑focused IT team, ensuring reliable, secure, resilient, and high‑performing systems that support teaching, learning, and support staff teams. The role includes responsibility for the college’s hybrid infrastructure (on‑premise and cloud), including network connectivity, switching, wireless (Wi‑Fi) infrastructure, Microsoft 365 and Azure environments, core platforms such as the Management Information System (MIS), and backup and disaster recovery (DR) systems, alongside the management of third‑party vendors and external support providers, ensuring effective delivery and high operational standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing the college’s IT infrastructure, connectivity, switching, and wireless network environment
  • Supporting and developing Microsoft 365, Azure, and modern endpoint management
  • Maintaining and supporting the college’s MIS and other key business systems
  • Ensuring robust backup, disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity arrangements, including regular testing
  • Ensuring high availability, resilience, and performance across IT services
  • Leading and developing a responsive IT support function for staff and students
  • Managing workloads, priorities, and resources to deliver a high‑quality user experience
  • Maintaining a secure IT environment through effective cybersecurity practices
  • Managing and coordinating third‑party vendors and external support partners
  • Supporting procurement, budgeting, and supplier management
  • Working with colleagues across the Trust to support greater alignment, standardisation, and shared service delivery

Strong people skills are essential. You will work closely with academic, pastoral, and professional services teams to deliver a secure, reliable, and user‑focused IT service, while also contributing to collaboration and resilience across the wider Trust.

Salary: This post is paid on the range Point 26 rising to Point 30 on the Support Staff Pay Scale. The annual salary for a FT post for this range is £44,203pa – £48,665 pa.
