Collis Engineering is a well-established and trusted provider of structural steel engineering solutions, supporting the Rail, Nuclear, Construction, and Telecommunications sectors. With extensive experience operating within highly regulated and technically demanding industries, we deliver comprehensive engineering, fabrication, and installation services tailored to the specific requirements of each client and project.

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our Design Department. You will support in delivering structural, civil, and mechanical engineering solutions across a range of projects within the rail and infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce detailed engineering and design drawings using AutoCAD and/or Inventor software
  • Interpret structural, civil, and mechanical designs into practical engineering solutions
  • Prepare calculations and technical design data for new and existing products
  • Manage individual projects and ensure deliverables are achieved to programme deadlines
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, consulting engineers, and internal departments
  • Prepare Network Rail Forms A, B & G and associated design submissions
  • Attend internal and client meetings, including IDC/R meetings, via Microsoft Teams
  • Provide technical support to sales, purchasing, manufacturing, and installation teams
  • Ensure project document registers remain accurate and up to date
  • Carry out CRE duties and work towards or maintain CRE status
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and trainees where required
  • Assist in obtaining site and design information from client teams to support project delivery
Requirements
  • Degree/HND/HNC in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ engineering experience
  • Strong AutoCAD and/or Inventor skills
  • Knowledge of Network Rail standards and BS/BS-EN standards
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • CRE status preferred or working towards CRE desirable
  • Bentley Microstation experience is desirable but not essential
