Purpose of the job
The Head of Product, Commerce & Marketplace will define and execute the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Collinson’s commerce platform and marketplace, enabling seamless transactions across B2B and B2C channels. This role will oversee product catalogue, pricing, commerce, bookings, order management, and checkout, while also expanding our marketplace to integrate third‑party travel‑related services such as fast‑track security, parking, baggage wrap, and other airport‑adjacent services. This lead role will drive API and partner integrations, ensuring a seamless buying experience for customers and businesses. With a focus on capability delivery, they will manage a team of Product Managers and collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, UX, and business teams to build scalable, high‑performance commerce solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Commerce & Marketplace Strategy: Define and execute the product roadmap for commerce, pricing, marketplace, bookings, and order management, ensuring alignment with business goals. Develop a scalable platform to support subscriptions and one‑time purchases across B2B and B2C channels. Enable dynamic pricing, bundling, and discounting capabilities, working closely with commercial teams to ensure alignment with broader pricing strategies. Expand the marketplace ecosystem by integrating travel‑adjacent services through API and partner integrations. Own order management and checkout, ensuring seamless transactions, fraud prevention, and optimised payment processing.
- Product Execution & Delivery: Lead multiple Product Managers, ensuring they deliver on roadmap priorities. Oversee the development of commerce infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and API‑driven capabilities. Work closely with UX teams to optimise the end‑to‑end booking, checkout, and order management experience. Balance short‑term capability releases with long‑term platform scalability.
- Data‑Driven & Customer‑Centric Approach: Define and track success metrics focused on delivery, adoption, and performance. Leverage customer insights, market trends, and competitive analysis to shape the product roadmap. Work with business teams to track commerce performance, ensuring continuous optimisation.
- Leadership & Stakeholder Influence: Manage and mentor multiple Product Managers, fostering a high‑performing product team. Work cross‑functionally with engineering, UX, commercial, and partnership teams to deliver business impact. Serve as a thought leader internally and externally, shaping the company’s commerce and marketplace strategy.
Knowledge, skills and experience required
- Extensive product management experience, particularly in commerce, marketplace, or travel‑related services.
- Proven leadership and management experience, overseeing multiple Product Managers and driving best practices.
- Strong expertise in API‑driven platforms and partner integrations.
- Track record of delivering scalable commerce, order management, and checkout solutions.
- Experience in B2B and B2C commerce models, including subscriptions and transactional purchases.
- Technical understanding of platform engineering, ensuring the creation of scalable and effective digital experiences.
- Hands‑on experience working with engineering teams, understanding complex systems, and demonstrating technical fluency.
- Exceptional problem‑solving, organisational, and analytical skills, ensuring data‑driven decision‑making.
- Proven ability to develop a product vision, strategy, and roadmap, aligning with business objectives, customer needs, and industry trends.
- Experience in market research, competitor analysis, and user insights, leveraging qualitative and quantitative data to define business cases and shape impactful features.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and align diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to balance strategic vision with hands‑on execution in a fast‑paced environment.
