Purpose of the job
The Senior BI Analyst will play a pivotal role in transforming financial data into actionable insights through advanced analytics and data visualisation. This role reports into the Head of Finance Analytics, a new team that bridges Finance and Data teams in ensuring robust, automated reporting solutions that support decision making and operational efficiency.
Successful candidates for this role will show competence in data interpretation and a passion for problem solving, as well as being comfortable leading meetings and presenting data and information in an organized, cohesive way across the business and up to the highest levels of senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Visualisation & Reporting
Design, develop and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards and reports for Finance and Senior Leadership stakeholders.
Ensure consistency, accuracy and alignment with financial KPIs and governance standards.
Evaluate emerging methods of insights delivery including Data Apps and - Data Analysis & Insights
Analyse large, complex datasets to identify trends, variances and opportunities for cost optimisation and revenue growth.
Provide insights and act as a data storyteller guiding a wide range of stakeholders to actions. - Automation & Process Improvement
Lead initiatives to automate manual reporting processes leveraging Tableau, SQL and ETL tools.
Drive standardisation of reporting frameworks and promote self‑service analytics.
Support Data Science teams in exploring and implementing AI initiatives. - Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Partner with FP&A, Data and Commercial teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Act as a subject matter expert for Tableau, BI and Data Storytelling within Finance.
Provide coaching for 3+ Finance BI analysts. - Governance & Quality Assurance
Implement data governance controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Conduct regular data validation and performance tuning of BI solutions.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business/data analytics.
- Minimum of 5 years of analytics experience, preferably supporting commercial or finance teams.
- Familiarity with financial statements (balance sheet/profit & loss) preferred.
- Proficiency in data interpretation with SQL, Python or similar.
- Proficiency in Tableau Cloud features and capabilities.
- Advanced Excel skills preferred (Modern Excel, Power Query and Power Pivot).
- The following experience will be considered advantageous: AWS, Snowflake, Snaplogic, dbt.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects simultaneously under time sensitive conditions.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex data insights to diverse audiences and refining messages to ensure understanding.
- Ability to prepare and organize data, information, and recommendations in a concise way to various audiences including senior executives/board members.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies and automation tools is a plus.
- Have a passion for experimentation, using data and insights to derive hypothesis to test and learn, unlocking learnings and growth.
- Commercially creative in turning ideas into business cases.
- Effective communicator across different lines of business functions.
- Able to build strong relationships across the organizational structure.
- Self‑starter, able to work with minimal supervision and oversight, able to overcome challenges independently.
