Job Description
Heavy Haulage Planner
We are a growing business looking for an experienced Specialist Haulage Planner to join our strong and reputable team. You will be joining a well‑established Transport division, committed to investing in both our fleet and our people.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate transportation of oversized and out‑of‑gauge movements
- Schedule Flatbed and Low Loader vehicles efficiently to optimise fleet utilisation
- Assist with obtaining necessary permits and approvals for transporting oversized cargo
- Develop transport solutions while ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards
- Liaise with customers and colleagues to ensure the operation runs smoothly
- Complete all administration tasks and deal with infringements
- Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
- Monitor operations to improve cost‑effectiveness and efficiency in all areas of planning
Requirements:
- Ability to multi‑task and complete a number of concurrent activities to a high standard
- Ability to prioritise workload while maintaining strong attention to detail
- Proven knowledge of geographical routes and driver regulations in the UK
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements
- Proven experience in a similar role handling oversized and out‑of‑gauge cargo
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Experience:
- Experience in the specialist area of out‑of‑gauge movements, Flatbed and Low Loaders (required)
- HIAB Planning and Container Planning (preferred but not essential)
- Experience booking VBS slots for sites (e.g. HS2) (preferred but not essential)
License/Certification:
- Clean Full UK Driving Licence (desirable)
