Butterley Café is our friendly hub that serves both Collins employees and the local public. We are looking for an energetic and experienced Café Manager to take the reins, leading from the front to ensure high standards of food, service, and safety. This is a hands-on role where you will be as comfortable behind the grill as you are managing the books and leading your team.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Direct management of café staff, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Operational Planning: Creating and managing weekly rotas to ensure consistent coverage.
- Culinary Creativity: Developing and introducing creative daily/weekly specials to keep the menu exciting for our regulars.
- Kitchen Operations: Hands-on cooking and food preparation during peak service times.
- Inventory Management: Full responsibility for stock ordering, deliveries, and regular stock-taking to manage wastage and margins.
- Compliance: Ensuring strict adherence to Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations.
- Financial Oversight: Daily cash handling, till reconciliation, and cashing up procedures.
- Customer Excellence: Providing a warm, professional service to both our internal staff and the general public.
Requirements:
- Allergy Awareness: Comprehensive knowledge of allergens and the ability to manage cross-contamination risks.
- Managerial Experience: Proven track record in a supervisory or management role within a catering or café environment.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to manage a diverse team and customer base.
- Reliability: Strong organisational skills with a 'can-do' attitude toward problem-solving.
- Experience: Previous experience in a high-volume café or professional kitchen (Required). Experience in menu costings and stock control (Preferred).
- License/Certification: Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene (Required). Full UK Driving Licence (Preferred).
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Schedule: 5 days per week. Shift pattern spread across Monday to Saturday. Expected Hours: No less than 40 per week
