We are looking for talented Design Engineers to help shape the future of aircraft interiors.

In this role, you will focus on New Product Introductions with a specialised emphasis on Design for Manufacture and Design for Assembly. Be part of our journey to elevate the standards of aircraft interiors!

Role Overview: As a Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing major components and functional systems, as well as technically advanced prototypes. Your work will directly contribute to the development and improvement of products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and functionality. Successful candidates will be expected to work with limited supervision and influence others within the work area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.

What You Will Do

  • Design Ownership: Oversee the product life cycle from initial concept through to production and product support.
  • Mechanical Design: Design mechanical components and assemblies with a focus on manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Engineering Calculations: Perform calculations to determine the size and strength of components.
  • Problem Solving and Validation: Solve design problems and verify computations contributing to analytical designs.
  • CAD Work: Prepare, modify, and release drawings created in CAD (Siemens NX) to verify the fit, form, and function of mechanical designs.
  • Structural Verification: Test prototypes for reliability and FAA certification through dynamic crash testing to ensure structural acceptability.
  • Engineering Tools Utilisation: Use engineering tools such as FMEAs, FEA, and DFMA to validate design content.
  • Material and Part Evaluation: Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs, including communication with current and new suppliers.
  • Team Collaboration: Operate in a team environment with input from other functional areas and participate in design reviews.
  • Continuous Improvement: Embrace a continuous improvement mindset, to drive improvements to our products and processes, by eliminating waste.

Essential Criteria

  • A degree in a related engineering discipline with a minimum of two years experience in Design or Engineering related role.
  • OR: Hold an HND/HNC in a relevant discipline with at least three years experience in Design or Engineering related role.
  • OR: A relevant apprenticeship with five years relevant experience in Engineering.

Desirable Criteria

  • Mechanical Systems Design.
  • Prior experience in the design of mechanical systems for commercial aircraft seating products.
  • CAD Software: Experience in design using Siemens NX or other 3D CAD software.

Internal Only Criteria

  • Must hold or working towards a Third Level Education in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 1 years experience in a comparable professional role or P1 role.
  • OR Currently working in an M2 Role.
  • OR Currently working in a T5 role.
