Here at Collins Maintenance Repair and Overhaul UK facility in Marston Green, we provide specialist technical support for Electronic Engine Control, Fuel Metering units, Actuators and Pump units widely used in the Aerospace industry.

Position Summary:

Our business desires to develop the next generation of engineers and technicians. As such, we are delighted to be recruiting 1x Mechanical Infrastructure Apprentice to form our 2024 cohort. We offer a comprehensive 4-year apprenticeship programme on a full-time basis with the possibility of securing permanent employment at the end.

This is what you can expect:

Year 1 – The programme starts in September 2024, you will receive a base salary and be based full-time at the In-Comm training college, Aldridge. This year will cover the Practical Competence foundation elements of your apprenticeship alongside your Level 3 knowledge.

Year 2 – Working at Collins Aerospace Marston Green with Wednesday classroom at In-Comm completing your Level 3 knowledge subjects. You will rotate around different departments around our site to develop a deep understanding of how our business operates.

Year 3 – Working at Collins Aerospace Marston Green with 1 day per week for HNC or equivalent qualification. Most apprentices choose to complete a HNC in either Electronic or Mechanical Engineering at Solihull College.

Year 4 – Based at Collins Aerospace Marston Green with 1 day per week to complete your HNC or equivalent qualification that you started in Year 3.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keep our machinery and equipment running smoothly through regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs
  • Ensure optimal performance of HVAC systems, boilers, and mechanical components with routine checks
  • Support business growth by assisting in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and inventory
  • Enhance mechanical skills and knowledge through active participation in training sessions.
  • Assist in sourcing spare parts and materials essential for maintenance tasks
  • Conduct thorough inspections of building infrastructure, promptly reporting defects and safety hazards
  • Adhere to environmental regulations while contributing to the design and implementation of equipment modifications or upgrades
  • Be prepared to respond to equipment failures and breakdowns during emergency situations, while continuously seeking opportunities for skill development and improvement

Essential Criteria:

  • BTCE, T-Levels or GCSE Maths, English & Science at grade 4 or above
  • A strong willingness to learn
  • Ability to work with other people as part of a team

Desirable Criteria:

  • A keen interest in Aerospace and/or Engineering
  • Experience of mechanical subjects
  • Good Microsoft Office skills
