Collins Aerospace Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS) Networks and Messaging Services support over 1,500 aviation customers transmitting over 75 million messages per day across the Aviation community. We are currently seeking a Systems Engineer with a passion for aviation to join the Messaging Implementation Engineering Team. The candidate will work directly with Engineering Manager, Program Management, Customers and Technical Engineering leads across multiple disciplines and supporting groups. The candidate will support our Messaging team with implementing, modifying, configuring, testing, and documenting airline middleware messaging connections and routing between Collins Aerospace - CAS airline message services and customer end systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Configure software applications and services using Java/JavaScript
  • Manage multiple customer-facing implementation and migration projects/tasks.
  • Partner with the operations team to troubleshoot customer issues and provide written responses to questions.
  • Provide technical advice to internal sales, product and service delivery teams.
  • Troubleshoot and work directly with our customers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. In absence of a degree, 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Extensive experience with messaging systems/protocols/messaging formats such as Type B and ICAO messaging formats.
  • Extensive experience with IBM WebSphere MQ (MQSeries) middleware messaging and queuing.
  • Experience with Commercial Airline/Global Distribution Service operational messaging.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively interact with internal and external customers.
  • Possess written and oral communication (including listening) skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and troubleshoot issues in a positive and engaging manner.
  • Ability to work independently and in an international, cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system and connectivity issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High level understanding and knowledge of core networking, subnetting, firewalls, VPN, AWS connect.
  • Software development experience.
  • Network and/or routing configuration experience.
