About the role

This is a varied and hands-on role supporting teaching and learning across Design & Technology including Engineering, Resistant Materials, Wood Work, Food Technology and Textiles. You will play a vital part in ensuring lessons run smoothly and safely across a wide range of practical subjects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and setting up materials, ingredients, tools and equipment for practical lessons
  • Supporting teaching staff and students during practical sessions across workshops, food rooms and textiles classrooms
  • Maintaining stock levels, ordering supplies and managing storage
  • Operating and supporting use of specialist equipment including CAD/CAM, laser cutters and 3D printers
  • Ensuring a safe, clean and well-organised working environment in all teaching areas
  • Maintaining food hygiene standards, including cleaning kitchens, fridges and storage areas
  • Managing stock of food ingredients, consumables and cleaning materials
  • Organising and laundering textiles and food items such as aprons, tea towels and oven gloves
  • Supporting safe use of sewing machines, textiles equipment and materials
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety and basic food hygiene regulations

You will support students from Year 7 through to A Level, working closely with teaching staff as an integral part of the department team.

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Practical, organised and proactive with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident working across a range of practical environments (workshops, kitchens and textiles rooms)
  • Knowledgeable about materials, equipment and safe working practices
  • Comfortable with IT systems and willing to learn new technologies
  • A strong team player with good communication skills
  • Passionate about supporting young people and their learning
  • Experience in Food Technology, Textiles, or a workshop environment would be highly desirable. Training will be provided, including for specialist machinery and equipment.
