We are looking for a compassionate, proactive and dedicated Sixth Form Learning Coach to join our successful Sixth Form team and play a vital role in supporting students with additional needs.
This position combines the best aspects of a Learning Support Assistant and Learner Mentor role.
You will work closely with Sixth Form students who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), providing a blend of academic, pastoral and emotional support that enables them to succeed both in education and beyond.
As a trusted adult, you will
Responsibilities
- Support students in lessons, study periods and one-to-one interventions.
- Deliver the provision outlined within EHCPs and help students achieve their individual outcomes.
- Encourage independence, resilience and confidence in learning.
- Supervise and create a calm, purposeful Sixth Form study environment.
- Provide mentoring and emotional support for students with social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, the SEND team and external professionals to ensure every student receives the support they need.
Qualifications
- Have experience supporting young people, ideally in an education or SEND setting.
- Understand the needs of students with EHCPs and additional learning needs.
- Build positive, professional relationships with students and colleagues.
- Are calm, patient, organised and resilient.
- Are committed to inclusion, safeguarding and helping every student flourish.
- Experience of working with post-16 students and knowledge of restorative or trauma-informed approaches would be advantageous.
