Services include brokerage sales and leasing (landlord and tenant representation), real estate management, valuation, consulting, project management, project marketing and research.
Based in our Birmingham or Leeds office, the Surveyor / Senior Surveyor, Professional Services, will play a key leadership role within our specialist property consultancy team, delivering expert landlord and tenant advice across a diverse commercial property portfolio. The role will involve acting for landlords, tenants, investors and occupiers on a range of professional surveying matters, including rent reviews, lease renewals, lease restructuring and strategic asset management advice. From time to time the successful candidate will be expected to provide valuations, albeit in a supporting role and ancillary to the Landlord & Tenant case load.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with commercial awareness and excellent client relationship skills. Sector‑specific experience is advantageous, although guidance and support will be provided. Travel throughout the UK will be required, with most travel regionally focused across the Midlands and North. A full UK driving licence is required.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert landlord and tenant advice on single assets and portfolio instructions, including rent reviews, lease renewals and lease re‑gears.
- Undertake valuations, feasibility assessments and due diligence exercises for acquisition, disposal, secured lending and financial reporting purposes in accordance with RICS standards.
- Deliver tailored consultancy advice to clients, supporting asset performance, lease events, occupational strategy and investment decision‑making.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with landlords, tenants, investors and stakeholders, delivering commercially focused and timely advice.
- Monitor market trends, analyse comparable evidence, prepare reports and advise clients on rental values, market conditions and asset performance.
- Ensure all instructions are completed in line with RICS professional standards, company procedures and relevant legislation.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, act as a trusted advisor across landlord and tenant matters, identify new business opportunities and contribute to winning instructions through pitches, proposals, networking and cross‑team collaboration.
- Maintain up‑to‑date market knowledge across commercial property sectors and occupational markets, contribute to internal and external thought leadership, market commentary and client publications.
- Supervise and mentor junior surveyors and graduates, provide technical guidance and support, promote a collaborative, high‑performing and client‑focused culture.
- Contribute to business planning, fee targets, profitability and revenue growth within the team and wider business.
- Degree‑qualified in Real Estate, Property or a related discipline.
- Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS or equivalent).
- Proven experience (typically 1 to 5+ years).
- Strong client management, business development and presentation skills.
- In‑depth knowledge of valuation and landlord and tenant principles.
- Excellent analytical, commercial and communication skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Established network of automotive and roadside sector contacts and relationships.
- Valuation skills and knowledge of valuation software (Argus, Kel, etc.).
