Job Description

Colliers Planning Team offers expert planning consultancy services to clients across the UK. With a strong reputation and experience in the planning market, we work on a broad range of strategic projects, including current involvement in three new Garden Villages. This role offers the opportunity to work on an exciting mix of projects across England and Scotland, covering all scales and sectors, and serving a diverse array of clients

We are currently looking to recruit a skilled and talented Planner to join our team in Edinburgh. This is a unique opportunity to be part of large-scale planning projects nationwide, while being based in Scotland’s capital.

Skills:

The successful candidate will engage in professionally rewarding work, delivering a first-class service to clients while contributing to the Planning team’s fee income. You will be expected to develop strong client relationships and identify business development opportunities, as well as collaborate effectively with property colleagues across Colliers’ UK offices.

The role includes

  • Deliver high-quality professional planning services to clients, ensuring all reporting requirements are met within agreed deadlines and in compliance with RTPI standards.
  • Adhere to Colliers’ Best Practice standards in all aspects of project delivery.
  • Manage project timelines effectively and consult with senior staff regarding project scope and content as needed.
  • Travel across the UK for site visits and client meetings, including locations such as London, Manchester, and others.
  • Support and mentor graduates and junior team members in their professional development.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and Client Coordinators to ensure relationships are managed efficiently and proactively.
  • Undertake planning consultancy work that contributes to fee generation and supports both Planning team and wider Business Group revenue targets.
  • Contribute innovative ideas that add value for clients and open opportunities for new or expanded streams of professional fee income.
  • Build and maintain a strong internal network across Colliers’ UK offices to enhance collaboration and service delivery.
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, including cross-selling Colliers’ services.

Qualifications

  • MRICS qualified or over 3 years’ experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently advise clients and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Excellent organisation and time management to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Solid knowledge of English and Scottish planning systems with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Effective team player within a planning consultancy environment.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Relevant qualification with RTPI or RICS membership.
  • Holds or is working towards a valid UK driving licence.
