Teaching Support Officer- Ceramics technician

Our Teaching Support Officers provide our learners and staff across our ceramics and 3D Art and Design courses with support in studios through ensuring that resources and equipment are properly maintained and well-stocked, supporting practical activities and preparing teaching resources. These are varied roles which are invaluable in ensuring that teaching sessions run smoothly and help our learners to achieve their full potential as well as creating and maintaining inspiring displays to showcase learners' work.

We have a thriving Art and Design department and in recent years, the department has grown from strength to strength. This role will be predominantly based within the Ceramics/3D department; however, with a range of different course disciplines and facilities, the work will be varied and require flexibility within the day-to-day routine.

This role provides our learners with invaluable hands-on support within the ceramic workshops and 3D spaces to enable them to get the most out of their studies. The successful post holder will hold a minimum of a level 2 qualification in a related subject, have industry experience and hold level 2 maths and English qualifications or be willing to obtain them. The right candidate will also have experience in preparing ceramic materials, such as slips, glazes, slabs and coils as well as an understanding, or a willingness to develop skills in maintaining and supporting the use of kilns and pottery wheels.
