This role supports our Foundation learners to develop both their life and learning skills through the coordination of work experience opportunities as well as working closely with learners to assess their individual abilities and support needs. Our supported internship scheme offers learners access to high quality work experience opportunities at a range of employers including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, The College of West Anglia and local businesses, with one day a week in college where they receive tuition and guidance from the Job Coach. The Job Coach also works with partners to ensure placements are meaningful and that appropriate risk assessments are in place to give learners the best possible introduction to work.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate work experience opportunities and support learners in developing life and learning skills.
  • Assess learners’ individual abilities and support needs and work with partners to ensure meaningful placements.
  • Ensure appropriate risk assessments are in place for learner work experiences.
  • Provide guidance and tuition in college settings as part of the supported internship scheme.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Experience of working with people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • No teaching or assessing qualification is required; support will be provided to obtain one.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for working with and inspiring learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • Excellent communication, prioritisation and motivational skills.
