We have recently announced the launch of our new Certified Practitioner schemes for dentists. These are credentialling schemes which will validate and recognise the skills and expertise of dentists at an advanced level, in a number of specialist areas. We are seeking a Clinical Credentialling Development Manager to help complete the development and implementation of these Certified Practitioner schemes.

About the role

This is a contractor role and the contractor will project manage the construction and completion of the schemes, and their systems of assessment. They will work with senior practitioners, via working groups, to ensure that robust systems and processes are developed to underpin quality, and operational effectiveness, and to provide a good experience for candidates. They will ensure the success of the schemes by building authority and recognition across the market, and take-up amongst experienced dental practitioners in individual disciplines. The credentialling schemes will require a dentist to submit a detailed portfolio of evidence e.g. a log-book of clinical cases; a training log to demonstrate their skills and knowledge etc. The evidence will be assessed by a panel against an agreed curriculum and set of criteria. Successful candidates will become Certified Practitioners in their specialty area.

We have launched the Certified Practitioner scheme in Endodontics and are piloting the application and assessment process with a small number of candidates. We are starting to build similar schemes in Implant Dentistry and Oral Surgery.

Commitment

The contractor will support the completion of the implementation of the Credentialling programme across all of the specialty areas. It is anticipated that this will take around six months. It is expected that the commitment will be two days per week, but this might fluctuate. Due to the requirement to work with practising clinicians, some meetings may need to be held in the evenings, normally 6pm, and estimate one per week. Flexibility is therefore required, but with the bulk of the working day to be in standard business hours in order to liaise with College staff. There may be a requirement to attend occasional face to face meetings, usually in London.

Remuneration

Daily rate of £250, to be invoiced monthly.

About you

We are seeking someone who is decisive and delivery-focussed, and who excels at developing robust, practical frameworks. The role is helping to develop a flagship recognition scheme, and so you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Framework Design & Delivery: Proven experience of developing professional accreditation, credentialing, or postgraduate assessment schemes, ideally in the healthcare education sector.
  • Clinical Stakeholder Management: Confidence collaborating with senior clinicians and working with committees and boards to agree complex standards.
  • End-to-End Project completion: A track record of driving projects forward independently, with the persistence needed to see a complex initiative through to launch.
  • Quality Assurance Savvy: Strong skills in ensuring systems and processes are compliant.
  • Decision-Making: Comfort using professional judgment e.g. to establish assessment metrics.
  • Articulate Communication: Highly polished verbal and written communication skills.
  • Digital Literacy: High proficiency with core office tools (MS Office) and a helpful baseline knowledge of online publishing platforms like WordPress.

Summary of responsibilities

  • Convene, coordinate and support Working Groups for the development of new credentialing schemes, as agreed.
  • Convene, coordinate and support the Assessment Boards for each established credentialing scheme, to provide oversight of effectiveness and calibration of the scheme and individual assessments.
  • Work with the relevant Working Group or Assessment Board to ensure comprehensive credentialing requirements are clearly documented and published.
  • Coordinate engagement with external stakeholders, and particularly the relevant specialist societies and education providers.
  • Develop the governance arrangements for the overall scheme and individual credentials, including terms of reference, conflict-of-interest processes, and escalation routes to Directors, Council and Trustees when complaints or risks arise.
  • Work with staff team to ensure candidate experience of enrolment, support and assessment through the scheme, including the management of processes for borderline, deferred or unsuccessful applications, and complaint processes is consistent and fair.
  • Plan and coordinate measures to cultivate visibility, trust and uptake amongst practitioners.
  • Work with staff colleagues to ensure effective promotion and communication of the credentialing schemes, from launch through ongoing recruitment of new candidates.
