We are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated Director of Faculty for Engineering and Motor Vehicle to provide strategic leadership across one of our most high-profile and industry-relevant faculties. This is a key senior leadership role, reporting to the Vice Principal – Curriculum Innovation, Quality and Performance.

You will lead an ambitious and innovative curriculum offer that meets the needs of learners, employers and the wider regional economy. You will be accountable for the quality of education across the faculty, driving continuous improvement, high performance and an outstanding learner experience.

As Director, you will lead and inspire a team of Curriculum Managers, fostering a culture of high expectations, professional excellence and strong values. You will ensure that the faculty delivers outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, achieves strong outcomes, and is responsive to labour market intelligence and emerging sector priorities.

This role also provides the opportunity to contribute at a whole-college level, including supporting cross-college priorities such as apprenticeships, supporting Ofsted readiness, and identifying growth and income generation opportunities. You will play a vital role in shaping the College’s future direction, ensuring financial sustainability, and strengthening employer partnerships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for curriculum areas, including Engineering and Motor Vehicle, ensuring alignment with the College’s strategic plan
  • Lead and be accountable for quality of education, driving year-on-year improvement in learner outcomes
  • Champion high expectations, aspirations and a culture of excellence for both staff and learners
  • Lead effective quality assurance, self-assessment and quality improvement planning
  • Use data and performance intelligence to inform decision-making and curriculum development
  • Develop a responsive, ambitious curriculum aligned to employer needs, labour market demand and regional priorities
  • Build strong partnerships with employers and stakeholders to grow provision and enhance learner opportunities
  • Ensure efficient and effective deployment of resources, including staffing, budgets and timetabling
  • Drive income generation opportunities, including apprenticeships and employer-led provision
  • Lead on equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring equitable outcomes for all learners
  • Oversee learner recruitment, admissions, support and progression to maximise success
  • Line manage Curriculum Managers, supporting performance, development and accountability
Requirements
  • A proven track record of successful leadership within Further Education or a similar education/training environment
  • Significant experience of managing curriculum, quality assurance and performance
  • Significant experience of managing and leading apprenticeships and working with employers
  • Strong understanding of Ofsted frameworks, quality improvement and inspection readiness
  • Experience of leading and improving teaching, learning and assessment
  • Demonstrable experience of budget management and resource planning
  • Knowledge of labour market trends and employer engagement within Engineering and/or Motor Vehicle sectors
  • Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) and a relevant teaching qualification
