We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Transport Planner to join the Collard Environmental team, based at our Eversley Head Office. The role is responsible for the daily planning and coordination of skip truck operations, ensuring efficient vehicle utilisation, excellent customer service, and smooth communication between drivers, customers, and internal teams. This is a fast‑paced operational role requiring strong planning skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage changing priorities throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and optimise the daily schedules for skip trucks to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
- Liaise closely with drivers throughout the day, providing clear instructions and responding to any issues or changes.
- Schedule skip deliveries, exchanges and collections in line with customer requirements and operational capacity.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date skip stock records, ensuring availability and correct allocation.
- Monitor progress of jobs and proactively adjust plans in response to delays, breakdowns, or urgent requests.
- Act as a point of contact for customer queries, providing timely and professional responses.
- Handle customer complaints effectively, working with internal teams to achieve prompt resolution.
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations, drivers’ hours, and company procedures.
- Use transport planning systems and internal software to record, update and report operational data.
- Support Saturday operations as part of a rota, ensuring continuity of service.
Candidate Qualifications
- Proven experience in transport planning, logistics, or a similar operational role.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly when liaising with drivers and customers.
- Confident decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
- Good IT skills, including experience with transport planning or scheduling systems.
- High attention to detail, particularly with stock control and scheduling accuracy.
- Previous experience within waste management, recycling, or environmental services (desirable but not essential).
- Proficiency in Transportation Planning and Transport Modelling.
- Skills in Transportation Management and Operations Management.
- Strong communication abilities to coordinate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and analytical thinking for optimizing delivery routes and schedules.
- Familiarity with logistics software or related systems is a plus.
