We are seeking an experienced and proactive Plant Workshop Manager / Supervisor to manage the effective day‑to‑day operation of our plant workshop. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, proven team management, excellent organisational skills, and a commitment to maintaining safe, efficient, and high‑quality workshop operations from our Eversley Plant Workshops. You will be responsible for managing a small team, driving preventative maintenance, minimising downtime, and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and manage a team of mechanics and welders, providing clear instruction and effectively allocating workloads.
  • Ensure the implementation of the plant management systems, including the utilisation and adoption of tablets for engineers and welders.
  • Support warranty claims and ensure all servicing and repairs are completed efficiently, cost‑effectively, and in line with preventative maintenance best practice.
  • Ensure all 12‑monthly inspections are carried out thoroughly, including auditing and managerial sign‑off.
  • Provide strong HSQE leadership, promoting and reinforcing safe working practices to reduce risks, incidents, and injuries across the workshop.
  • Minimise plant downtime by ensuring efficient repair planning, effective prioritisation, and maximised plant availability.
  • Support engineers with diagnosing complex mechanical faults and developing appropriate repair solutions.
  • Record and track all damage charges, including labour and parts usage.
  • Organise the timely and efficient repair and maintenance of all plant equipment.
  • Work closely with the Parts Controller to manage stock levels effectively and reduce repair and servicing costs.

The Successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role as Workshop Manager or Supervisor.
  • Demonstrable career progression (e.g., Fitter → Supervisor/Manager).
  • NVQ in Plant Maintenance or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong people management, coaching, and delegation skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to lead and implement positive change.
  • Good understanding of plant legislation, industry standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience of using Syrinx plant management system desirable.
