Working Pattern: Full-time, permanent | 5 days per week in the office
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator to join a London-based accounting firm.
This is a varied role combining bookkeeping and payroll responsibilities across a diverse portfolio of clients. It would particularly suit someone with around 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience , alongside hands-on payroll experience, who is keen to develop a long-term career within accounting.
The firm is committed to supporting professional development and is happy to fund relevant accounting studies and qualifications for the right person.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage payroll processing across a portfolio of approximately 128 clients
- Handle payrolls ranging from straightforward single-person businesses to larger, more complex client payrolls
- Ensure payrolls are processed accurately and within required deadlines
- Carry out day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
- Maintain accurate financial records and reconcile accounts
- Work closely with colleagues and clients to resolve payroll and bookkeeping queries
- Support the firm's move towards greater automation and efficiency across its payroll processes
- Gradually take on a greater proportion of bookkeeping responsibilities as payroll processes become increasingly automated
Currently, the role is weighted approximately four days per week towards payroll and one day towards bookkeeping . The firm's objective is to reverse this over time, creating a role that is predominantly focused on bookkeeping.
About You
You will ideally have:
- Around 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience
- Practical experience processing payroll
- Experience working with multiple clients or payrolls, ideally within an accounting practice or similar environment
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Confidence dealing with both straightforward and more complex payroll requirements
- An interest in technology, automation and improving processes
- A genuine desire to develop a longer-term career within accounting
You should also be comfortable working five days per week from the firm's London Bridge office .
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build their accounting career rather than remain solely focused on payroll.
The firm is keen to invest in the successful candidate's development and will support and fund appropriate professional accounting studies.
