We are looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer for a well-established company, who specialise in bespoke fabrication solutions for the construction sector. The ideal Design Engineer will be a self‑motivated, technically skilled individual who has experience of leading the day‑to‑day operations of a busy design and fabrication office, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality drawings, designs, and technical support. This role would suit a Senior Design Engineer, Fabrication Design Engineer, or experienced Team Leader with a background in sheet metal fabrication, architectural design, or mechanical engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the fabrication design office and support the wider production team.
- Produce accurate and detailed CAD/SolidWorks drawings and supporting calculations.
- Maintain and update CAD systems, CRM data, project documentation, and internal processes.
- Provide technical guidance and support to fabrication and production teams.
- Manage internal and external communications, ensuring prompt and professional responses.
- Prepare and submit quotations and design proposals within required time frames.
- Stay up to date with technical developments, industry standards, and product innovations.
- Support training and development initiatives to enhance team and individual performance.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks is essential for this role.
- Strong background in sheet metal or mechanical design.
- Confident reading and interpreting technical / architectural drawings.
- Experience with Office 365 (Outlook, Excel) and CRM systems.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and team leadership skills.
- Previous experience with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Sketchup would be advantageous but not essential, as training can be provided.
