We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator to support and manage day-to-day shipping and distribution activities for this family owned, Poole based company. Our client has a phenomenal reputation for providing top quality products and services to their global customer base, and are true to their values, creating a culture where employees feel valued and appreciated. They encourage a family feel in the workplace and most of their staff have been in the organisation for many years!

The logistics position is an additional headcount for the logistics team, and will involve obtaining and maintaining accurate shipping quotations, arranging cost-effective transportation, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods. The successful candidate will work across global freight operations (air, sea, road) and play a key role in keeping logistics running smoothly. While experience in a similar role is preferred, our client is open to candidates who are eager to learn and develop within logistics.

LOGISTICS CO-ORDINATOR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Obtain, compare, and maintain records of shipping quotes from carriers and freight forwarders
  • Arrange transportation for shipments via air, sea, and road
  • Prepare, review, and process shipping and customs documentation
  • Coordinate with internal teams, suppliers, and logistics partners
  • Monitor shipments, track deliveries, and resolve any issues
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant shipping regulations
  • Handle and ship dangerous goods in line with legal and safety requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of logistics activities, including costs and documentation
  • General administration duties to include printing off shipping labels, updating internal systems, ensuring key information is up to date, supporting the team during busy periods, as required.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL IDEALLY HAVE
  • Your own transport – Due to the location (Poole) the successful candidate would need to have their own transport, as public transport is often not reliable or straightforward.
  • Previous experience, or knowledge of global freight operations (air, sea, and road) – although transferrable skills / experience will be considered and training can be provided.
  • Experience with shipping documentation or customs paperwork is beneficial
  • Awareness of dangerous goods regulations is advantageous
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail – essential, given that you will manage your own workload, within a small team
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment – essential
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach – you will be working in a small, close-knit team, so it is important that you are able to work well with others, in addition to managing your own workload.
  • Experience with logistics systems or similar ERP software (e.g. SAP) – essential to support a quicker learning process
WHAT IS ON OFFER
  • A Competitive basic salary
  • A supportive, collaborative work environment where you have the opportunity to progress
  • Free parking on site
  • Early finish on a Friday!
  • Christmas shut down
  • Training and support for someone who is looking to build on their experience

This role would suit someone who is organised, can quickly understand processes, and is keen to be part of a supportive, family-oriented organisation who genuinely care about their staff and customers alike. Previous Logistics / freight / shipping / supply chain / transport experience would be ideal, but this role could also be a starting point for someone with good administration experience, looking to get into Logistics.
