To set, operate and maintain CNC turning machines using Fanuc controls to manufacture precision components to customer drawings and specifications, ensuring quality standards and production targets are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and operate CNC lathes with Fanuc controls.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Select and install tooling, fixtures and work-holding equipment.
  • Produce components to tight tolerances and quality requirements.
  • Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspections using measuring equipment.
  • Edit CNC programs and make offset adjustments where required.
  • Monitor machine performance and report any issues to supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
  • Complete production documentation accurately.
  • Adhere to company quality, health and safety procedures at all times.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Previous experience as a CNC Turner.
  • Experience setting and operating CNC lathes with Fanuc controls.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Competent using measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and bore gauges.
  • Understanding of machining various materials including steels, stainless steels and aluminium.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.

Desirable

  • Experience with multi-axis or twin-spindle CNC lathes.
  • Ability to edit CNC programs at the machine.
  • Knowledge of aerospace, oil & gas, defence or precision engineering sectors.
  • Apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification.
