An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CAD Designer / Estimator to join a well-established UK supplier within the construction and building products sector. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical background who enjoys producing detailed drawings, preparing quotations and working closely with customers and internal teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

This varied role combines design, estimating and project coordination, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working on bespoke fabrication projects from initial enquiry through to quotation.

The Role

As CAD Designer / Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate technical drawings, preparing cost estimates and supporting customers and colleagues throughout the quotation process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing detailed AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks drawings and associated technical calculations.
  • Preparing accurate estimates from architectural and technical drawings.
  • Creating customer quotations using the company's CRM system.
  • Obtaining supplier quotations where required.
  • Managing new enquiries received from customers and internal teams.
  • Maintaining accurate project records and ensuring CRM information is kept up to date.
  • Providing technical support to colleagues within the fabrication team.
  • Building strong working relationships with customers, suppliers and surveyors.
  • Responding professionally and efficiently to technical queries.
  • Keeping up to date with product knowledge, industry developments and company procedures.
  • Undertaking relevant training to support ongoing professional development.

Our client is looking for someone who has excellent technical ability, strong attention to detail and enjoys working in a collaborative environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a CAD Design and/or Estimating role.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Experience using SolidWorks.
  • Sheet metal or mechanical fabrication experience.
  • Ability to interpret architectural and technical drawings.
  • Experience using CRM systems.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with customers and colleagues.

Desirable

  • Adobe software experience.
  • SketchUp experience.
