Job Description Stand alone HR Manager with a hands on approach CIPD / similar HR Qualified - essential Take ownership of the full HR remit, including payroll HR MANAGER: We are looking for an experienced, people-focused HR Manager to lead the day-to-day HR and recruitment activities within a growing organisation. This is a standalone, and therefore very hands-on HR role suited to someone who can combine strong HR knowledge with a practical, approachable style. You will work closely with employees, managers and the senior leadership team, providing advice, managing employee relations and helping to develop a positive and engaging workplace culture. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HR MANAGER: Manage the full employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding through to performance management and leavers / exit interviews and other associated ER activities. Manage employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, redundancies, absence and performance issues. Develop and maintain HR policies, processes and procedures. Lead and support recruitment, including job descriptions, interviews, offers and onboarding and inductions. Manage performance reviews and appraisal processes. Support learning, development and training initiatives. Monitor employee engagement, retention, wellbeing and workplace culture. Ensure compliance with employment legislation and HR best practice. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR systems. Produce HR reports and provide people-related insight to senior management. Work closely with payroll and finance to ensure accurate employee information. Support reward, benefits, workforce planning and wider HR projects. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: This is a newly created position, and the ideal candidate will have proven experience as an HR Manager or have worked in a similar HR leadership role, with strong knowledge of employment legislation and employee relations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience of working with and advising managers and senior leaders. Strong organisational and problem-solving skills. The confidence to handle challenging and sensitive situations. A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach. High levels of discretion, integrity and professionalism. Strong knowledge of HR systems and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace. Up to date knowledge of HR legislation and best practice, as well as confidence to handle changing UK and European legislation as it arises. Previous Payroll experience would be ideal, as this will sit within the HR manager's remit. CIPD qualification or equivalent is essential, as is experience of working within a fast-paced or growing organisation. The ideal HR Manager will be approachable, supportive and people-focused, but also commercially aware and confident making decisions. You should be comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities and providing practical HR solutions across the business.
