  • CNC TURNER-TEAM LEADER
  • Purpose of the Role

To support the Production Manager in maintaining the production schedule in line with customer delivery requirements through effective team leadership, development and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold and enforce company standards, policies, procedures and Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) requirements.
  • Ensure employees and machine tools within the CNC Turning section operate efficiently and in accordance with established manufacturing processes.
  • Support the Production Manager in achieving the production schedule and meeting customer delivery dates.
  • Monitor production progress, identify potential delays and assist with recovery plans to maintain delivery performance.
  • Support quality improvement activities by implementing observations, reviews and corrective actions identified by the Quality department and Management team.
  • Assist in implementing and sustaining Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including 6S, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective actions arising from Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
  • Develop and encourage the team to take ownership of system compliance, workplace organisation and housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure team members consistently work safely, efficiently and in accordance with company standards and procedures.
  • Support the Production Manager with employee inductions, probation reviews, performance management and disciplinary processes where required.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with Quality Assurance and other departments, ensuring clear communication and collaboration across the business.
  • Provide flexibility to support operational requirements when necessary.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a CNC Turning Team Leader or Senior CNC Setter/Operator role.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Sound understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience of working within a precision engineering or aerospace manufacturing environment is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of quality standards and continuous improvement practices.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined and committed to maintaining high standards of workmanship
