Responsibilities
- Your role at Colets Nursery is to ensure the children receive meals from our catering service according to their dietary needs, prepare healthy snacks, and maintain a clean, tidy, and organised environment for everyone.
- Safeguarding
- Support child wellbeing & support upset children
- Ensure accurate and correct documentation of allergies within the nursery and that the correct information is followed when preparing and giving meals
- Protect children against danger
- Report any safeguarding concerns about a child to the Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Report any staff concerns to the Nursery Management team
- Ensure the nutritional needs of the children are met and food safety regulations complied with
- Handling & preparing food according to guidelines
- Receiving and handling daily food deliveries
- Recording temperature checks and other safety checks
- Ensuring environments are kept neat, clean & tidy
- Follow the kitchen dress code: black trousers, full apron, chef jacket, non-slip shoes, and hair net/chef's hat
- Take a lead in ensuring that nursery soaps and paper towels are regularly replenished
- Ensure all windows and glass surfaces around the nursery are clean and mark-free
- Report any major cleaning concerns to the Nursery Manager quickly to avoid delay in attending to them
- Responsible for the nursery laundry
- Sweep hallways and reception areas daily
- Replenish and clean / organise nursery nappy changing areas and toilets
- Occasionally support the rooms to cover team lunch breaks
- Be flexible to support in the rooms when cover is required
Ideal candidate:

- Experience in the kitchen is preferred, but not essential as we’ll provide all the training.
- References will be required.
As a bank staff member, you will inform the nursery manager of your availability in advance and where cover is required, you will be given a set shift. Our bank team are very important to us and we like to see the same faces regularly, as do the children and families. We will aim to offer you frequent shifts that fit around your other commitments. Please note that work cannot always be guaranteed but we will try our best to work with you to offer regular shifts. Shifts will be mostly full day shifts 8-10 hours.
