Job Purpose: We’re looking for a friendly and motivated Bar Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of Basil’s Bar at weekends. You’ll ensure a welcoming atmosphere, high service standards, and smooth bar operations while supporting and leading the team.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Members: Build relationships with members, address their feedback, and ensure a personalised and friendly experience. Handle complaints and follow up with relevant manager. Customer Service – Maintain a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, handle queries, and ensure cleanliness and compliance.
  • People: Team Leadership – Train, support, and motivate staff to deliver outstanding service. Communication & Reporting – Provide shift reports, update management, and liaise with event organisers. Conduct performance management reviews with Bar Manager.
  • Operations: Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain high standards of health and safety, ensuring all policies are followed. Daily Operations – Supervise bar service, ensuring efficiency and excellent customer experience. Act as the lead when the manager is absent. Closing & Events – Oversee bar operations during events, manage closing duties, secure the premises, and follow all procedures. Stock & Inventory – Monitor stock levels, restock as needed, and ensure vending machines are maintained. Compliance & Safety – Ensure adherence to licensing laws, health & safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Finance: Maintain excellent stock control. Work with Bar Manager to maintain budgets and cost control.

Qualifications / Educational Requirements: First Aid and Defibrillator, Customer Service Training – Preferred.

Preferred Skills and Experience: Previous bar or hospitality experience, ideally in a supervisory role. A friendly and approachable attitude with great customer service skills. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Attention to detail, especially with stock control and health & safety. The ability to work evenings, weekends, and during events.

Personal Qualities: Motivated, friendly, and approachable. Proud of delivering high-quality service. A can-do attitude with the ability to solve problems under pressure. Passionate about making a difference in a not-for-profit environment.
