Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training – Facilitating Trainers and Experts
We’re proud to deliver high‑impact training to help health & social care teams better support autistic people and people with a learning disability, inspired by the story of Oliver McGowan.
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training sessions enable staff to learn how to listen, understand, and provide better support. They are led by two experts with lived experience (one autistic person, and one person with a learning disability) supported by a Facilitating Trainer.
We are recruiting for all three roles across the UK.
Facilitating Trainers
We’re looking for experienced Facilitating Trainers nationwide to deliver Tier 1 and Tier 2 training.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver face‑to‑face training sessions.
- Co‑facilitate engaging and inclusive sessions with Experts with Lived Experience.
- Help participants develop the knowledge and confidence to better support autistic people and people with a learning disability.
- Work with training trios or independently.
Qualifications:
- Established trainer with experience delivering the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training.
- Experience in training or facilitation within health/social care settings.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Experts with Lived Experience
We’re also looking for Experts with Lived Experience:
- Autistic people and people with a learning disability who can share their lived experience as part of a supportive training team.
- Comfortable talking in front of groups (with support).
- Team player working with a Facilitating Trainer and another Expert.
- Can attend planning meetings, prepare sessions, and travel to training venues as needed.
- Willing to help others understand what life is like for autistic people and people with a learning disability.
- Role may be employed or self‑employed.
