Our client is an established privately-owned MEP services provider who have been in business for over 23 years and they are searching for a Senior Mechanical Estimator to join their Pre-Construction team in the North East.

They specialise in pre-fabrication, new installation and refurbishment, providing market leading services across various sectors including Commercial, Education, Leisure, Accommodation, Residential, MOD/MOJ, Industrial, Retail and Health with values ranging from £2m - £20m M&E.

They have a strong family feel culture with opportunities for each person to thrive and to progress.

They have an established Estimating team with 8 people and theyre currently in their next phase of growth.

You will work closely with Senior Estimators with the opportunity to progress to Pre-Construction Manager level, in time.

Responsibilities

Prepare accurate mechanical estimates and tenders for projects across HVAC, heating, ventilation, domestic water, public health and associated mechanical building services.

Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and client requirements to establish scope, identify omissions and raise technical/commercial queries.

Undertake detailed take-offs and build cost plans, including labour, materials, plant, subcontract packages and preliminaries.

Obtain and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations, ensuring bids are commercially competitive while meeting the required specification.

Lead mechanical tender submissions, taking ownership of pricing from initial enquiry through to final tender adjudication and submission.

Identify tender risks and opportunities, including value-engineering options, alternative technical solutions and potential cost savings.

Work closely with the pre-construction, design/BIM, procurement, commercial and operational teams to develop practical and deliverable solutions.

Attend site visits, tender interviews and client/design-team meetings, providing technical and commercial input where required.

Produce tender clarifications, qualifications and cost breakdowns, ensuring the basis of the estimate is clearly documented.

Support project handover following contract award, communicating the tender strategy, assumptions, supplier quotations, risks and opportunities to the delivery and commercial teams.

Mentor or support junior estimators and estimating staff, reviewing work and helping maintain consistent estimating standards across the team.
