We are working alongside a leading building services contractor who are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join their North West pre-construction team. This role is pivotal in securing and delivering high-quality MEP projects across sectors including healthcare, education, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use developments.
Our client has been in operation for over 80 years and is currently turning over £300m across the business. They have an outstanding culture, team structure and there are long term opportunities for the right people to progress past Senior level and above. The successful candidate will lead the electrical estimating function on complex tenders, ensuring accurate, competitive, and commercially robust submissions aligned with company standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the preparation of detailed electrical cost estimates for projects ranging from £5m - £35m in value.
- Review tender documentation including drawings, specifications, and employers requirements.
- Develop competitive and commercially sound tender submissions within agreed deadlines.
- Identify risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Engage with design teams to clarify scope and resolve technical queries.
- Analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Negotiate with supply chain partners to secure best-value pricing.
- Prepare cost plans, budget estimates, and cash flow forecasts where required.
- Present cost breakdowns and tender reports to senior management.
- Support post-tender negotiations and contract finalisation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and main contractors.
- Attend pre-tender meetings, site visits, and client interviews.
- Collaborate closely with internal departments including design, commercial, and operations teams.
- Monitor market conditions, labour trends, and material pricing fluctuations within the North West.
- Contribute to bid strategy discussions and pipeline forecasting.
- Support continuous improvement of estimating processes and systems.
- Proven experience as a Senior Electrical Estimator within the building services or MEP sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services installations.
- Experience working on large-scale commercial or public sector projects.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent commercial awareness and risk management capability.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
