The Data Governance & Quality Analyst will be responsible for establishing and embedding data ownership, governance standards, and data quality controls across the firm. This role will work closely with business leaders, operational teams, and technology functions to ensure data is trusted, well-governed, and fit for decision-making, regulatory compliance, and client delivery. This is a hands-on role that combines governance design, data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Governance
- Define and implement the firm’s data governance operating model
- Establish and document data ownership and stewardship roles
- Create and maintain data policies, standards, and business definitions
- Support the creation of a data catalogue and business glossary
- Embed governance into day-to-day processes and decision-making
- Identify critical data elements across key systems
- Design and implement data quality rules and controls
- Track, report, and escalate data quality issues and work with data owners to remediate issues at source
- Act as a trusted advisor to business data owners
- Facilitate workshops to agree definitions, standards, and ownership
- Educate stakeholders on their data responsibilities and influence change without direct authority
- Provide insights into data risk, impact, and trends
- Support internal audit, risk, and compliance activities
- Contribute to leadership reporting and decision-making
Required Experience
- Proven experience in data governance, data quality or data management
- Experience operating in a professional services, regulated or complex organisation
- Strong data analysis skills, including SQL
- Demonstrated success influencing stakeholders across the business
- Experience improving data quality in live operational systems
- Experience with data governance tools (Purview preferred)
- Exposure to GDPR and data protection frameworks
- Experience working alongside data engineering or architecture teams
