About the role
Are you a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, or Nurse with a keen interest in neurodiversity, and a willingness and desire to progress in your career? Our Adult ADHD team, providing assessment and pre- and post-diagnostic support to adults across North West London, is seeking a new team member to join this exciting new service. This is an opportunity to help shape and develop the future of the team and to work as part of a growing and developing service.
Job Summary
As a practitioner psychologist, nurse or Allied Health Professional within the Adult ADHD team, you will contribute to multidisciplinary screening and ADHD assessments, as well as pre- and post-diagnostic support. You will develop expertise in assessments and interventions, including knowledge of autism, to contribute to assessment and pre- and post-diagnostic support.

Main duties / Responsibilities
- Work as a qualified band 7 practitioner psychologist/Allied Health Professional/Nurse within the multidisciplinary Adult ADHD Service
- Autonomous practitioner assessing service users, defining needs related to ADHD/autism assessments, and maintaining clinical records
- Receive supervision and guidance from senior staff when necessary
- Take responsibility for own continuing professional development; develop clinical, administrative and leadership competencies
- Supervise and support more junior colleagues
- Participate in service audit projects and attend departmental meetings and in-service training
Role responsibilities
- Provide specialist ADHD assessments for service users with complex needs, including physical, psychological and sensory impairments, distress, mental health issues or challenging behaviours
- Be flexible to support the multidisciplinary team
- Educate and advise service users, families, carers and staff about difficulties and needs; develop appropriate management plans
- Collaborate within the multidisciplinary team, recognising others’ skills and expertise
- Engage in ongoing professional development
- Provide supervision and support to junior colleagues, assistants and students
- Accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload and manage priorities and time effectively
- Maintain clinical records as an autonomous practitioner
Person Specification
Essential
Training & Qualifications: A professional qualification in Clinical/Counselling Psychology/Occupational Therapy/Speech and Language Therapy/Nursing; registration to practice in the UK with the HCPC/NMC
Desirable
Further qualifications relevant to autism assessment; training in Sensory Integration techniques
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills for building therapeutic relationships with service users with complex needs
- Basic word processing and IT skills
- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure; independent decision-making within agreed timeframes
- Ability to produce timely, accurate reports and notes
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills; effective delegation
- Communicate clearly in writing and verbally; commitment to ongoing CPD
- Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management strategies

Experience
- Essential: Experience of working with people with ADHD; experience in a multidisciplinary and multi-agency environment; experience in a multicultural context; participation in audit/research projects
- Desirable: Experience of ADHD assessment using standardised tools (e.g., DIVA); experience in post-diagnostic support for adults with ADHD; teaching/training experience
