We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP) to join our team at CNWL Talking Therapies Service Brent. We are a large, well-established service based in a diverse borough of London. Our service provides low and high intensity therapies at Step 2 and Step 3, alongside our Step 3 counselling service. We are passionate about the work we do and care provided to service users, and work by the trust values of compassion, respect, empowerment and partnership. Our team is key in the work we do and service provided to the population of Brent. We welcome applicants who speak other languages and who have enthusiasm for and experience of working with diversity.
Responsibilities
- Work within a stepped care model, providing assessments and delivering evidence-based low intensity interventions for people with common mental health problems.
- Assessments and interventions may be delivered face to face, via digital platform (Teams) or via the telephone.
- Deliver psychoeducational workshops and be involved in working within the local community and establishing links with voluntary service organisations to promote the service.
- Receive regular clinical supervision and support from a qualified therapist and work closely with other clinical practitioners within the team.
- Collaborate with CNWL IAPT teams and other mental health teams within Brent to support staff development and progression onto higher training.
- Work across the catchment area of the London borough of Brent, including hubs at Fairfields House (Kingsbury) and Bell House (Willesden Green), and across GP surgeries and community settings.
- Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service, participate in the duty and triage rota, screen referrals with a high intensity therapist and a senior clinician.
- Assess and support people with common mental health problems in self-management of recovery; conduct patient-centred interviews to identify change goals and assess risk where appropriate.
- Determine suitability of new referrals, refer unsuitable clients to the relevant service, or step up to high intensity therapy as required.
- Provide information and support for high-volume low-intensity treatments (e.g., guided self-help computerised CBT) and information about pharmacological treatments; delivery may be face to face, telephone or via other media.
- Educate and involve family members and others in treatment where necessary and appropriate.
- Adhere to activity contracts relating to client contacts and weekly clinical sessions to minimise waiting times and maintain accessible treatment delivery.
- Attend multi-disciplinary meetings related to referrals or clients in treatment, as appropriate.
- Complete data collection requirements and maintain coherent records of clinical activity in line with service protocols; use records and clinical outcome data in decision making.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements within a stepped care model.
- Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process.
- Operate from an inclusive values base that promotes recovery and respects diversity.
- Prepare and present clinical information for all patients on their caseload to clinical case management supervisors on a scheduled basis to ensure safe practice and governance obligations are met.
- Manage a range of clients and clinical situations, including emotive communication, applying initiative, tact and persuasion as needed.
Qualifications
- Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) with clear ability to work in a stepped care IAPT setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; adaptable and able to work with diversity and in primary care contexts.
- Commitment to professional supervision and ongoing development within CNWL Talking Therapies.
