We are seeking to recruit a Special School Nurse (Band 5 or 6) to provide specialised health care support for children and young people with medical needs at Harrow special schools. We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals who can work autonomously as well as collaboratively as part of the Harrow Community Children's Nursing Team. The Special School Nursing Team operates in the schools from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This position comes with a Term Time Contract.
You will be responsible for providing excellent, high-quality service to children in Harrow who have additional and special educational needs. Your role will involve working closely with children, their parents or caregivers, and other key partners to improve health outcomes and help children with special needs reach their full potential in all environments: at home, in the community, and at school. Good communication and positive working relationships with school staff and the leadership team are essential parts of this role.

- Work with children, families or carers and other key partners to improve health outcomes and support development in home, community and school settings.
- Establish and maintain good communication and constructive working relationships with school staff and the leadership team.
- Act as part of the Special School Nursing Team, contributing to safe, effective, person-centred care.
- Special School nurses work closely with the people who use our services and their families, who play an important role in shaping their experience of care.
- Be kind, responsive, professional and informative, and contribute to the quality of the services by keeping people safe through sound clinical skills and risk assessments.
- Use up-to-date skills and adhere to evidence-based policies and procedures to achieve the best clinical outcomes.
- Respect, empower and work in partnership with people throughout the care planning process to ensure a good experience of care.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and model good practice to healthcare assistants/support workers/school staff and students to maintain high standards of care.
