We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Community Consultant Paediatrician to join our Community Child Health service in Hillingdon. Main duties of the job:

• This post is for a Consultant Paediatrician in Community Child Health and Neurodisability, with the opportunity to take up the role as lead for Safeguarding, SEND and sensorineural hearing loss.
• You will work closely with other paediatric colleagues to provide safeguarding (including child protection and Looked after children) and neurodisability services.
• You will share the overall clinical responsibility with the other community paediatricians to provide the highest standard of medical paediatric care for our patients.
• You will be expected to work within the multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive community paediatric service within the Community Child Health service.

Job responsibilities:

• Clinical activities: Consultant clinics and related administrative work, clinical triage/screening of referrals, clinical supervision to trainees, MDT clinical discussions or meetings, covering for Child protection medical assessments (excluding sexual abuse) during working hours.
• Teaching: To contribute to departmental teaching, to contribute to teaching of paediatric trainees rotating within training posts, to contribute to teaching of medical or other clinical students particularly in relation to community child health services.
• Management and leadership: Audit, quality improvement and service development, clinical governance, educational and management supervision.

Person Specification:

• Qualifications: MRCP, MRCPCH by examination or equivalent, fully registered with the General Medical Council, on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT or CESR-CP in Paediatrics at the time of interview.
• Professional Experience: Achieved the competencies relating to General Paediatric Training, usually after 2 years of General Professional Training in Paediatrics, experience of working as part of and leading a multidisciplinary team.
• Leadership & Management: Capable of working at consultant level in Community Child Health, including working unsupervised and making sound clinical decisions.
• Academic & Teaching: Demonstrated enthusiasm and experience in undergraduate and postgraduate paediatric teaching.
• Personal Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills, ability to work constructively in a multidisciplinary team, flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of colleagues.
