The Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and security across assigned college campuses. The role involves supervising and supporting cleaning staff, coordinating cover for absences, and undertaking hands-on cleaning duties as required. The post holder will manage the secure opening and locking of campus buildings, operate alarm systems, and maintain knowledge of fire panel systems. They will ensure cleaning activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations, while using materials and equipment cost-effectively. The Cleaning Supervisor will also coordinate additional cleaning for events, report maintenance issues, contribute to College policy implementation, and work collaboratively to provide a safe, clean and welcoming environment for learners, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the college is cleaned to a high standard within your assigned area and throughout.
- Supervise cleaning staff and obtain cover in areas where there is sickness/leave.
- Secure locking of all campus buildings and activation/deactivation of alarm systems.
- Operate fire panel during activation and reset/silence it.
- Empty bins, re-line them and leave rubbish outside buildings at shift end.
- Vacuum carpeted areas as required.
- Dry mop or brush hard floor areas; mop or buff certain hard floors daily.
- Clean and dust work surfaces, desks, tables and other equipment as required.
- Use all materials and equipment efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Provide additional cleaning after major or additional events to meet required standard.
- Operate in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and COSHH requirements.
- Secure rooms on leaving, with lights turned off.
- Report damage or maintenance requirements to your supervisor.
- Contribute to the effective implementation of all college policies and procedures.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Principal, Director of Estates and Health & Safety, Estates Officer and Cleaning Supervisor.

Welsh Language Requirements
- Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) – Level 0/1 Desirable.
