Are you looking for a new challenge to educate the future IT leaders? Coleg Sir Gar & Coleg Ceredigion have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer in IT based at our Cardigan Campus. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to combine their skills in teaching and learning, or industry, with high level planning and organisation to ensure excellent standards throughout. The role provides a challenging, but rewarding opportunity to help students fulfil their potential and achieve the best possible results.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching and assessing on a range of college courses as required and seeking to achieve ongoing improvement in the performance of your learners.
- Preparation of teaching and learning materials and timely marking of learners’ work.
- Acting as Course Team Leader for appropriate courses relating to the post, to include:
- Convening, chairing, and recording the minutes of Course Team meetings;
- Setting targets for learners through the college’s Tutorial Programme;
- Participating in the planning and development of the college curriculum.
- Bilingualism Policy and Welsh Language Scheme;
- Data Protection Policy;
- Environmental Policy;
- Equal Opportunities Policy and Race Equality Policy;
- Health and Safety Policy and associated rules and procedures;
- Policy and procedures for safeguarding under 18 and vulnerable adult learners;
- Risk Management Policy, Financial Regulations and associated procedures.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Criteria:
- Level 3 or equivalent in IT.
- Relevant Higher Academic/ Vocational qualification in IT.
- Teaching qualification (If you are not in possession of a teaching qualification as at the date of employment, you will be required to obtain a PGCE within 2 years of this date).
- GCSE English at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent.
- GCSE Mathematics at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent.
- Documented evidence of appropriate Professional Development.
- Three years relevant industrial experience in the sector.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to work harmoniously with students and colleagues.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Creative flair and innovative practical skills.
- Relevant ICT skills.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing.
- Excellent punctuality and ability to work flexibly.
Desirable Criteria:
- Relevant teaching experience.
- A good understanding of relevant issues in post 16 education.
- A proven track record of high levels of learner attainment.
- Awareness of key performance indicators.
- Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities.
- Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of learner performance.
- Experience of actively participating in the pastoral care of young people.
- Sound understanding of Digital Literacy.
- Willingness to drive a college minibus.
- Willingness to contribute to develop extra-curricular activities.
Welsh Language Requirements:
- Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1 Desirable.
- Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1 Desirable.
